Need Info on Evans Hybrid 300

Post by Chuck Martin »

Hi. I just bought one of these vintage Evans amps and am looking for any information on it. Ideally I'd like to get a copy of the owners manual and a schematic if anyone has one. The speaker in it, an old JBL E130-4, appears to be blown. Anyone know what came in these originally?

Thanks

Chuck,

Your best bet is to contact Darrell Stephens. He use to build the Evans Amps after taking over the company from Jim Evans.

The last number I have for Darrell who lives in Shreveport , LA. is a/c 318 -798 - 2684 .

He is a good guy to visit with and very knowledgable in electronics . In case you talk to him , tell him I send my regards .

Chuck, I got word pretty straight several months ago that Mr Ed Buffington at Evans is in the process of re-issuing a Hybrid 300. According to Mr. Jim Evans the new hybrid 300 preamp circuit will be exactly the same as the old vintage 300. The real difference will be the output circuit will be new Evans technology. The review I got was that this one is gonna be a sho nuff hoss!!

Sounds like Ed Buffington would be a great contact for a Hybrid 300 schematic!
