Hilton pedal with tubefex

Post by richard burton »

Can anyone tell me the best place to put the Hilton pedal in the signal chain? From the steel to the Hilton to the input of the Tubefex, or connect the Hilton to the send/return sockets in the back of the Tubefex, with the steel going direct to the Tubefex input?
Thanks, R B.

I always run from the guitar into the Hilton then into effects then into amp.

Ok, this is the normal set up above.

The only reason to do otherwise is if you want
a distorted sound from one of the preamp functions, either tube or digtal distortion,
that DOESN"T change it's character with level.

i.e. you put the steel direct, and it has a set distortion level, possibly with a compressor before or after the distortion patch... or both.

Then you go out the Tubefex patch to the Hilton and back in, and route off to what other sound effects you want, if any.

The distortion remains exactly the same when you change hilton levels.
if you have a reverb after the same distortion goes intothe reverb and only increases in level.
This is a useful effect I use from time to time.

Normally if you send into the pre amp with the volume pedal 1st,
if you send more pedal level you get more distortion as it rises.

Another trick would be to have a stomp bpx before the pedal for this effect.
But kinda defeats the idea of a Hilton.
