* NEW Goodrich pedal ~ NO POT ~ QUIET *
Press Release ~ April 14 2003
Goodrich Sound Co LLC
8733 Silver Creek Rd
Whitehall MI 49461
231-893-5702 FAX: 231-893-7004
Here's a description for the NEW Goodrich LDR Volume Pedal:
It has SELECTIVE INPUTS:
Plug into NORMAL mode or BRIGHT mode.
It has 2 outputs for driving 2 amps, or you can use 1 output to go directly to a mixing board with no losses or noise pickup.
This pedal has NO pot, NO battery, NO racks or pinions, and NO moving internal parts. It is a product of modern technology.
It is extemely quiet and free of distortion.
This noiseless, no-loss, distortion-free operation requires more power than a battery can provide. This is why, when we designed this pedal, we chose a plug-in power supply. And we've kept most of the power supply components inside our pedal so that we've been able to keep the cost of the extrenal unit so low that you might want to carry a spare (this is the only part that might be damaged in use). The price of this power supply is very nominal.
Everything can be left plugged in at all times if desired.
The Goodrich LDR Pedal has more headroom than any other. No "clipping" regardless of how hard a string is picked.
And we guarantee there is NO TONAL CHANGE from FULL-ON to FULL-OFF, regardless of which input is used.
We've included R.F. filtering so you won't hear cell phones or intercoms.
This LDR Pedal carries a full 1-year WARRANTY against manufacturing defects on parts and labor. If the unit becomes defective at any time during the warranty period, we will correct the problem and send it through our Quality Assurance Department to ensure that it meets factory specs.
As the leading builder of volume pedals, our rigid quality and handcrafted workmanship guarantee a product you'll be proud to own -- made in the USA.
We urge you to try this pedal and compare it with any other one on the market.
Please see your Dealer for price and availability.
Suggested List Price: $239

Kenny: I would suggest trying them both and drawing your own conclusion.
Jeff: Goodrich tells me that they do plan to look at building a low-boy version, but that would not be for awhile.
We are currently taking orders for these Goodrich LDR pedals (standard height).

Craig ... Hi
Actually it's one of those 'ungodly' as you say
power supplies that is easy to find at Radio Shack, according to the Goodrich folks.
Philip Goodrich says you can go to Radio Shack and get Radio Shack's 12V Power Adapter #273-1773 for around $13-$14. That includes a choice of one (1) Adapter Plug. Choose Adapter Plug "M".
Or, you can buy the power supply from any Goodrich Dealer. We sell spare ones for $15. Goodrich says these power supplies are purposely low-priced so that folks can afford to carry a spare one or even two.
Also, Goodrich says this above and on our linked page above, which is relevant to your question (note that Goodrich says the wall wart/power supply is the only part that might be damaged in use):
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">quote:</font><HR><SMALL>This noiseless, no-loss, distortion-free operation requires more power than a battery can provide, which is why we designed this pedal to use a plug-in power supply.
And, we've kept most of the power supply components inside our pedal so the cost of the external unit is low enough that you may wish to carry a spare (this is the only part that might be damaged in use).
Everything can be left plugged in at all times if desired. </SMALL><HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Marco and Len ... Here are Phillip Goodrich's replies to your questions:
"The LDR pedal has the same characteristics as the former CD2A.
"The LDR pedal is superior in that it has no interior moving parts.
"This LDR pedal does replace the CD2A for the above reason.
The power supplies are interchangeable."

John: Yes, the Goodrich LDR does look like the other recent Goodrich pedals, such as the 120, in outside appearance/design.
Timmy: The Goodrich LDR can be ordered from Goodrich dealers at this time. <FONT SIZE=-1>(We expect our first shipment next week).</FONT>
We encourage anyone who wishes to compare these to actually compare them with your rig for yourself.
Here are a few of the comments about the Goodrich LDR from Junior Knight after field testing it for us <FONT SIZE=-2>(we plan to have other comments later)</FONT>:
<UL>[*]"Dramatically improved my clarity and volume"
[*]"Made the playing experience very enjoyable, allowing greater control over my overall stage volume and tone"
[*]"Volume was easier to control ~ able to hear notes better at high volume"
[/list]
<FONT SIZE=-1>You may purchase the Goodrich LDR from us if you wish
online or if you prefer you may print out this order form or you may call our retail sales line 800-969-7332 </FONT> <FONT SIZE=-2>(or 972-475-2324 for international sales).</FONT>

Hi Rick:
I had the same problem ordering from Carter. Ann Fabian called me and said they get so much "spam" email that it is difficult to weed out the legitimate people contacting them.
Ann suggested that you type in "Carter" in the subject on the email message or use the Carter "order form" on their website.
Spam is a problem and I often delete email mesages that appear to be junk mail. Sometimes legitimate messages get caught up in this when I delete them.

Chuck: maybe by now you've heard from some folks who prefer to talk about these comparisons one-on-one. We do still recommend comparing them for yourself.
For all you International Steelers: here are the mechanical and electrical specifications for the external power supply so that you may find a suitable alternate external power supply or converter which will work with your country's electrical current.
