Roland COSM Amp Simulators
I have a question for anyone who has worked with any of the Roland VS digital recorders:
Is there an amp sim that sounds good with steel guitar, specifically on C6th? I was fooling around with a kind of swing oriented tune that a friend of mine wrote and I found that the "Country" (or something like that) amp sim sounded pretty nice with my Strat, but I didn't find that any of the built-in amp sims sounded good with my steel. I seem to get the best results with standard effects and EQ.

I like the basic Twin Reverb patches as a starting point. It did not take much tweaking to get a great sound with my Zum.
I ran the Zum through a simple home brew Hi-Z buffer preamp (input Z about 1M) and then direct into the VS1680. The Hi-Z buffer prevents loss of high frequencies as the VS input are moderate-Z even their 'guitar input' is not all that Hi-Z.

Thanks for the reply (on both boards) Robert. I'll give that a shot. I connect to the VS through a Steel Driver II straight into the Hi-Z input, so it's probably similar to how you're going in. That sounds pretty fair just by itself but it still lacks a little punch and clarity. I'll check out the Twin Reverb settings.
