Ken,
I don't know if they have any stock but you can try Digikey Corp:

I heard somewhere that DigiKey is a subsidiary of TI or somethings of that nature.... anyways, their prices I'm sure are better than Newark's prices.
go to: http://focus.ti.com/docs/general/distributor.jhtml for a list of others...
another thought, have you ever considered going through peavey to buy the chips?
In other words, unless you have dealer type accoutns through some of the electronics houses, what Peavey offers their 'mod kit' for the nash. 400 etc is really inline with what you would pay through newark etc for just the chips alone....

They are about $3.42 each, plus freight at Newark. They are out of stock for a month. I will try Digikey and Peavey both. I want to upgrade a Peavey Mave VT I just got in. The Burr-Brown chips looks like the way to go in this amp, there are 6 to replace in it. Unfortunately the signal path has some CA-3094, Operation Transconductance Amps, in the path too. Any suggestion on an upgrade for those? Being an old tube head, this is new territory for me!

Ken,
TI and Burr Brown merged a few years ago, so they are the same company (I was with TI for 17 years until Raytheon bought our defense business). Burr Brown developed the OP series amps. The CA3094 and CA3080 (used in the famous DynaComp) were RCA designs, now owned by Intersil. Digikey has them, but I believe they don't post a price since they are obsolete.

I appreciate all the support from you guys! Digikey had stock and their prices were very good. I am not sure if OTA chips could be upgraded yet, still researching. I think replacing the 4558 and TLO72 chips with the Burr-Brown/TI chips will be a very nice improvement. There are 6 of them in the amp in the preamp stages and reverb drive/recovery. I'll post how it all sounds when done.
[This message was edited by Ken Fox on 25 February 2003 at 04:29 PM.]

Try the following along with DigiKey:
Tritronics: 800-888-3293
Mouser Electronics: 800-346-6873
Smart Parts: 847-342-8266
When I had my electronics shop, these three pretty much had any and everything I ever needed. Especially Smart Parts for any Fender amp I was working on.
Happy hunting!!!
