? on Matchbro

Post by Jake L »

I used to use a goodrich sustainer..model 7A, I think. Can you use one of these matchbox sustainers in line with a matchbro, or do you even have to?..i.e. the matchbro acts as a sustainer when not in dobro mode????

Looks like everybody's ignoring you, Jake. Image
so I'll try to help

I use the SuperBro with a Hilton pedal, so it's not exactly the same scenario, but the Hilton pedal includes buffering circuitry like a MatchBox -- so, I suspect that using the MatchBro or SuperBro with an external buffer amp like the MatchBox or Hilton Digital Sustain should work fine.

It is my understanding that when the unit is switched to 'BYPASS', it is completely bypassed, so I doubt that it provides impedence matching / buffering like a MatchBox.

It is my understanding that MatchBro's do provide impedance matching when Reso-effect is off.

I have never used the MatchBro but do have the SuperBro. I use it in conjunction with my MatchBox. I keep it in line all the time as it has a bypass switch when I don't want the dobro effect.

I bought my Matchbro in '94 so it was in the first year or two of production on these. When the dobro sound is off the Matchbro acts as though it was an original Match Box, complete with the tone control. They may have changed this in later models however. I am not that familiar with the Superbro, though I would like to be, LOL.

God Bless,
Michael T.
