Profex II

Why are people wanting to sale there ProfexII, What are most of steel players using if there not using ProfexII. Please tell me if there is something better. I use ProfexII and a Evans amp, Mullen D10. Please tell me are e-mail me. Thanks TERRY PILANT

Terry, mine is not either. I have tried many that are much more expensive and keep coming back to the Profex II. I have a LeMay mod in mine and have programmed the EQ out of the settings I use. I can find nothing better.

My ProFexII sounds better than any of the other units being used in this area. I wouldn't part with mine. I've never modified any of its internal elements.

Alot of players are going back to just a steel guitar and an amp with a little reverb.

I sure wouldnt want to get rid of mine. I dont use a lot of settings on it but the ones i do use suit me fine. I havent seen any thing that sounds as good.

Terry, I keep the Profex II specifically to use with my Session 500, which isn't often because it is only my backup rig.

I use only one of the three steel guitar pre-sets that came with the original Profex II program because it only adds some minimal delay and reverb.

I never found a need for loading any of the steel pre-set packages that are available. www.genejones.com

This is a valid question. I think people just go thru phases of liking new equipment.
Because some items are for sale does not mean they are not good, or even the "best". I sold many items I wish I still had.

I agree, one of the best proceesors ever made and plenty affordable. A lot of processors on the market sound great but you have to spend a lot of time getting settings that work for your music. The work has been done for you already, thanks to Jeff Newman and friends! The settings they put together are great and are even a great place just to start tweeking your own custom settings from! The settings even work in a Trantubefex, Bassfex or Tubefex. I find every one I can and recondition it for resale on the Forum. I have sold every one I could fine so far, people must still like them!
I think that more people should also give the footcontroller a try, it opens up new doors for the Profex 2! (The Transtubefex and Tubefex use the PFC-10
foot-controller and it takes version 2 to get the effects control mode). I have one for my Transtubefex with version 2.0, I really like the versatility I now have with it.
People are always seaching for that illusive tone and therefore will change equipment over and over. I did it for 25 years until I figured out the problem, it was my playing! I am back to a Telecaster for guitar (right where I started) and a tube amp (works good for me now). I use a Transtubefex and set up two settings (patches) that I can use all night on the gig. I use the footcontroller to toggle in-out effects such as OD, TB, CM, CF. That's where the foot-controller really pays off! I can use this setup like a pedal board, less mess and better effects than my old pedal board. I can build a patch with anything I want in any order (and call it up with certain effects in the "off" mode). It is like having 127 pedal boards to choose from, if I wanted to do so (2 is all I need for now!!!).

I absolutely love my profex II. I hate to get rid of it! So why am I? I had the opportunity recently to purchase a transtubefex unit. If I could swing it I would keep both! These units add succh versatility to your sound I wouldn't play without one. The Peavey products are not the only products out there but they have proven to be good workhorses and the access to Peavey support(Mike Brown)just can't be beat. I guess we all might get "gear" fever every now and then and switch things around but I have been happy with the profex units.

Like Smiley, I have two and I had rather fight than switch. Great units. For small clubs I can take a Peavey Backstage and use only the power amp and go through the PF 2 and get great tone. Best deal anywhere CC

I own 2 of 'em. It's,most likely,the last processor that I'll ever own. It's got more than I'll ever get to use on it! Wouldn't sell either one.

After doing a couple of "mods" on mine, I wouldn't trade it for a "Webb" amp !!!

After I changed R-910 and R-922 from the original 10K to a 5K resistor,the resultant output was far more than enought to allow me to remove the EQ unit from my rack. This brought the whole system so "alive" that I actually had to reajust the whole rack unit in order to keep from being too "outfront" and over-takeing the other players.

I also have the "LeMay mod" in my "Profex II". To be trueful, I (after installing a few "Peavey" mods in other sets) don't see much of a difference between the "LeMay" and the "Peavey" mod.

Those footcontrolers are an awesome addition to a Profex. Might as well get the Peavey mod as long as your ordering a footswitch! It is an easy mod, just plug and play, no soldering!
