Great FREE mag for you recordists out there

Post by Mark van Allen »

If you have a studio or are just interested in recording, there's a great magazine out called "Tape OP"- edited/published by Larry Crane, it comes form the small studio/ low budget perspective and has all kinds of informative articles and reviews completely absent the hype and political slant of the big mass market glossys. Best of all it's supported by advertiser revenue, and you can get FREE fourth class subscriptions! This month features a great interview with Asleep at the Wheel's Ray Benson on recording AATW over the years. www.tapeop.com

It sounds like a great magazine but to get it delivered to Canada costs over $10 per issue. Yikes.

Hmm- sounds great- but the web site is down. Maybe they couldn't make any money giving the magazine away? Image

I guess keep trying on the site- the mag has been up and running for years, has a lot of heavyweight advertiser support nowadays. I think they're around for a bit. You can get a regular first class subscription, but I've been getting my free fourth class ones regularly and in good shape (I guess the mail lady likes me!). There's a nice thick book out ("Tape Op") with excerpts and interviews from the first year or so, really good stuff, I got mine at Borders...
[This message was edited by Mark van Allen on 04 December 2002 at 11:40 AM.]
