Peavey Line Out

Post by thurlon hopper »

Using Joe Turner's two backup CD's to practice with, i ran the 1000 through
a Peavey 8 channel mixer and Radio Shack
100 watt per side amp, and coudn't believe
how much the lows increased. Using Optimus
PA speakers loaded with 12's and horns, when
i switched to C6 the tenth low C blew me
away. Why should this setup increase the lows so much? Appreciate your opinions.
Thanx TJH

Remember that every item in your hookup can have an effect on what you hear, ie; the eq of the mixer, the power amp(any switches of any type?), and finally the speakers. If you have a response curve of the speakers, you could check for a boost in the low frequency range of the speaker itself. If these speakers are home hi-fi speakers, then they probably have a boost in the low ranges anyway. A good power amp will be transparent and no change in eq will be noticed, ie; what goes in, comes out unaffected.

You might substitute components in this setup to see if any "one" piece changes the equalization drastically.
