I put a McIntyre pickup in my spider bridge and biscuit style Dobros and they sound very good. I purchased my pickup from Stewart McDonald. It can be a little tricky installing it yourself in a spider bridge dobro. If you've disassembled your cone/spider assembly before, then you could probably install it. Comes with instructions.
I am very pleased with the sound. I also sometimes use an Audio Technica mic that has a miniature gooseneck that clamps right on the cover plate. It sounds great as well and moves with you.
