I too got into electronics back in the tube days. I am a ex general class amateur radio op and used to have a 2nd class FCC radiotelephone license.

At one point I made my living doing amp repair.

However, I don't have a tube unit (of any kind, except a TV picture tube) in my house. Everything I have is solid state and I'm really not interested in going back.

I'm not saying tube technology is bad, just my personal preference.
