Speaker for a '73 Session 400
I just finished repairing and cleaning up a Session 400 (date on circuit board 11-73). Soeaker was missing. Is the Black Widow 1501-4SB a good speaker choice for this amp? Looking for opinions on tone and reliability (I hope I don't open a "can of worms" with this one!). Has anyone got an older style, 4 ohm, BW that they would like to part with (from an older Session or LTD)??

Ken, I just got my Session 400 amp back from John LeMay @ Miracle Audio, after having its 27 year check up, and I have installed a new 1501-4 BW to replace the orig Peavey/JBL 15" that came from the factory. Mike Brown at Peavey recommended the 1501-4 BW as a great replacement for the Session 400. I did lots of searches here on the forum and could not find anyone who did not like the 1501-4's.
I just today received the new reverb tank I ordered from Peavey , so I will be finishing up my restoration tonight and will let you know how I like the sound of the 1501-4 BW once I get the new tank installed and power that baby up again!
Now how can I get off work early today so I can go home and play with my new toy!

Keep me posted on your amp. I'm excited to hear what you think about the performance 1501-4 SB in your amp. According to the history I've found, both our amps were in the vintage when a 15" JBL or two 12" EV speakers were the only offering! I suppose you're gonna hang on to that old JBL??? If not, I can find it a good home!

Ken you got it right on the old session and LTD amps. I,m useing two of the old LTD-400, Nashville 400 size, with one w/the new 1501-4 s/b speaker and the other w/ the s/b with the older nashville 400 magnet, which give a better match in tone useing the two togeather, however the two new speakers in both LTD amps. will give a more bassey tone, but useing one older magnet in one will give you a brighter tone and to me, sounds sweeter too.

Thanks again for your support of our steel products! We have a dealer locator on our website at "www.peavey.com". They will be glad to order your Black Widow 1501-4 ohm shallow basket speaker for you.
