That thing should actually help a lot,you can slow your tape and keep it in tune still.I think that`s great help for learning (not just for newbies)new licks.I think this is a good gadget.
my two cents
fairly common product used for learning licks. Some can get quite elaborate and expensive. Always thought I might like to have one. Check out www.musiciansworkshop.com
About 5 years ago we bought the Slo Mo Encore II from Slim Richey out of Texas. He used to advertise it in the back of some of the guitar mags. It is also digital and can slow everything to as slow as 1/6, plus, 3/4, 2/3, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 and 1/5 but the slowest speed produced poor quality as it had to slice the notes in pieces to stretch out the playback time and had a tendency to produce a machine-gun like tone, so the quicker playback made for better quality. It was the only thing going at the time and is a great little box still today, Gary
There is computer software that will do that too. I have SlowBlast that came with a SoundBlaster and it will take a passage off of a CD and slow it down.
John, it came with a SoundBlaster Live MP3 kit as part of the software package. It doesn't have all the features of some of the other software programs but seems to work.
