Noise from reverb for a Vegas 400

I've converted my Vegas 400 into a piggy-back set up, with a separarte head and speaker cabinet. Now the reverb is super noisy with a loud buzzing without any instruments plugged in. My guess is that the reverb tank and wires are too close to the transformer and the circuitry. Does anybody know this to be true? (before I build another one!) The noise disappears when the reverb is turned off.

You'll probably have to do some additional shielding of the reverb pan since it's closer to the transformer. Some kind of metallic plate across the open bottom of the reverb may do it. I've heard of some wrapping the reverb in aluminum foil, but it would have to be conductive type or it wouldn't be of any benefit. Whatever you do - plate, etc has to be grounded (to the reverb pan) for the shielding to work.

Also, check to see if you wires to/from the reverb tank are accidentally reversed. This can cause a lot of bzzzzzz.
