How Was The Texas Steel Guitar Show?

Post by Brett Day »

How was the Texas steel show this year? I know several of my friends were there, including my friend Dawn Jackson and Sho-Bud, and her band Hatfield Rain. I hope to someday go to the Texas steel show!

It was a really good show, Brett. Lots of great tone, and killer playing. Younger steelers Caleb Lindley, and Jack Phillips blew the doors off the place. There were a couple other younger players that should give us hope for the steel's future.
Old Sho-Buds ruled... Eddie Dunlap on a Fingertip, and Johnny Cox on a Permanent, both playing through a Sho-Bud single channel amp. Incredible tone.

Don't mean to single out anyone, because all the players were awesome. Hope you make it to a TSGA show sometime.

The new hotel was nicer than last year's hotel... and the restaurant had really good street tacos...

It was very encouraging to hear the many young steel players performing.
Also great to see the return of the US Navy country band. They were superb.
Sarah Jory was of course fabulous with her high energy show. Some pretty hot picking in the Mullen room!

“Phenomenal” is the word that comes to mind which most accurately describes the 2026 TSGA Jamboree! We thoroughly enjoyed it.

It was a great weekend! Lots of killer players, and it was great seeing so many old friends, and making a lot of new friends. I just love the steel community. Such a great group of people. I hope that you can make it down one year Brett.
