Augie Meyers

Post by Daniel Dickie »

I just noticed a post on Facebook from Augie Meyers page that he had passed away at the age of 85 over the weekend with his wife by his side.
I really enjoyed his music.
RIP Augie

Another Texas legend crosses over.

I never worked regularly with Augie, just played a gig or two with him onstage as a guest or as a fill-in; we were cordial with each other nevertheless. Always had a good word between us when our paths crossed over the last 5 decades or so.

I know Josh Dubin was a member of Augie's band in the 70s-80s. Maybe Josh will share his feelings about the man.
My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

I have his (last record, I think) released in '21 called Simply Augie. It features Bobby Flores on violin and steel. And it's a great album. Goodbye Augie.
