Carpet pad. Glue layers together for the thickness you want. Works great —- Rollin

There is a foam called Aviation Foam. It is the foam used in pilot's seats.
There is some wheel chair pads of foam that looks interesting. The pad is molded to fit a person's body.
There are many types of foam. Some steel seats have 3 layers of foam. Bottom layer very hard, Very little compression, The middle layer is softer. The top layer is softer and body forming.
If you have a upholstery shop or foam store near, you may want to visit them and see what is available.
A back rest is important too, Allowing you to lean back between songs helps your back a lot.

Few local stores will have the foam that you need. I ordered "high density" foam on line and got great results. I used 1 inch and kept stacking them until I got the results I liked. Then, used spray adhesive to tack them together before putting the vinyl over it. A chunk of memory foam in place of some of the high density foam might be real comfy for a big tush.

Gary, check out a kneeling mat at Home Depot. It's grey and is nice and firm and, big enough for the job. It's about 2" thick. It costs some where near $20. When ever I pass it in the store, I push my fingers into it and say to myself, "Wow! that would be nice. Let me know if you ever check it out. Ron
