Telonics VP Issue

Post by Nicholas Scott »

Hoping this might be an easy fix. I was playing a gig recently and all of a sudden my Telonics VP just quit. Light is still on(not blinking) but the signal is at 100% no matter the level of the VP. It’s like the pedal is not even there. Anyone ever had this issue before? Love this pedal, hoping it’s something I can fix on my own without sending it out west. Thanks!

Nick

It if still not working it could be power supply is not supplying enough voltage. Have you tried since the gig?

If still no signal call them and they will take care of you quickly. Their service is second to none.

Thanks for the response Mark. I switched the power supply(I have an extra Telonics power supply) still had the issue. I plan on giving them a call.

If the power supply was bad the pedal would pass no signal at all, but as you say it is constantly outputting full signal the issue is elsewhere. Unfortunately Telonics appears to be stingy with their circuit details and the schematic diagrams are not available elsewhere.

You might carefully disassemble it to check for obviously loose or broken mechanical parts or signs of burned out electronics components. It could be as simple as a slipping mechanical link or broken wire, or as complex as a failure in the negative feedback or opto-coupling circuitry, if used.

If everything looks ship-shape I suggest you put in a telephone call to their tech support crew who can likely help you suss it out.
