Re: Mullen Steel Guitar Co..!
My prediction is that the used market for Mullen will start to skyrocket. I've been tempted to buy a couple right now on the forum simply as an investment. I don't know how one stays in business with a 2+ year waiting list, especially with a skeleton crew and complete lack of communication. Would you buy a new one today, knowing this? I wouldn't. I bought my G2 used and couldn't be happier with it. I'd never sell it, especially now. My suggestion for those on the waiting list, buy used for now. Worse case, you sell your used mullen for more than you bought it if the new one ever does show up and it it doesn't? Consider it as part of the cost of buying the used on. Right now there is a gentleman selling 2 mint Mullen (Pre-rp and RP). Someone smart will snatch those up. I'd buy it myself but I have an Eagle, an new Sho-bud Maverick II, and a Williams (dedicated C6) on order.

I don’t know about a complete lack of communication. Shaun contacted me last week. Same info that has already been shared regarding wait times. Also that they are building and shipping guitars. I felt encouraged by the conversation. It seems like they certainly have a lot of guitars to build but they are still building.

Re: Mullen Steel Guitar Co..!
Same here. If today's Mullen situation was going on when I had decided to buy a new pedal steel back in early 2017 I would have scratched Mullen off the list immediately and kept looking. Also, if I had put a $500 non refundable deposit down and was originally told it would be 9 months, and then that changed into 24 or more, I'd cancel my order and push for a refund because the terms of the original "no refund deposit" deal had drastically changed. If they refused the refund, I'd look into disputing the charge with my bank/CC company because a 24 month delivery window is not what I was promised when I agreed to a non refundable deposit. It's one thing putting $500 down to save my place in the manufacturing queue to receive an instrument in a few months (and have the ability to give them a call and find easily find out the status of my order like when Mike was still running the show), it's quite another to essentially loan them $500 interest free for 2 years.
I hate to say things like this about Mullen, but a main reason I chose them back in 2017 was the family run business model made me feel like I was becoming part of the extended Mullen family. Nowadays after the misfortune they suffered and apparent challenges in communication it seems to have slid into a complete trainwreck with more questions than answers about their ability to deliver on a 2 year order

Re: Mullen Steel Guitar Co..!
I have been waiting now for 15 months for a new RP…!
And I to have recently bought a used royal precision, instead of a new one…
I also, have been talking to Nick, with the excuse that Lynette had been leading everyone on as to the progression and delivery time for our guitar’s…. I have a deposit invested so I reckon we’ll just sit and wait, and see what happens with them…

Re: Mullen Steel Guitar Co..!
Hey guys, just wanted to follow up to this thread.
I have a Mullen on order as I have mentioned previously in this thread and I plan on hanging in there and waiting.
I called Mullen yesterday and Nick answered the phone. He was extremely helpful and patient, not in a hurry to get off the phone at all, answered all my questions and was a pleasure to deal with.
From what he explained to me, they do like guitars in batches, so in my case of my universal 12 string, they will build it when they are able to do a handful of the same guitar at the same time. Unfortunately, for me, I don't think there are many 12 string guitars on order. Anyway, it's looking like it'll be about two years from my Order date on the long end. I've waited about 15 months so far.

That is exactly the way it was when I ordered my U-12 back in the late 1990s. Well worth the wait.… they do like guitars in batches, so in my case of my universal 12 string, they will build it when they are able to do a handful of the same guitar at the same time.

There are only two options as I see it.
Either I'm right, or there is a sinister conspiracy to conceal the fact that I'm right.
Williams Keyless S-10, BMI S-10, Evans FET-500LV, Fender Steel King, 2 Roland Cube 80XL's,
Sarno FreeLoader, Goodrich Passive Volume Pedals, Vintage ACE Pack-A-Seat

Re: Mullen Steel Guitar Co..!
And yet I see on their FaceBook site, they will be in Dallas with one new steel.
I wish Mullen the best as Dale and I were friends for well over 40 years.
But I have to wonder, if it is taking 2 years to get a guitar, they must have a stack of orders. What is the purpose of making the trip to the TSGA (1 weeks time), without anything to sell? Seems costly to me.
I can remember one time I was going to a show in Nashville and setting up my booth, without much product. Just to take orders. George Lewis (George L's) called me and said, stop by and get a bunch of product. "You can't sell from an empty basket".
Very true statement.
My best to the folks at Mullen. As fine an instrument as can be built for sure.
