“That She’s Leaving Feeling” intro
Anyone care to take a stab at this one? Wayyy outside of the limits of my attention span without a tab. And maybe with a tab too.
Here’s a video of just the intro (not original): https://youtu.be/hzbMGGoAaNo?feature=shared
Here’s the full song (original - first song in the video): https://youtu.be/TCB9pEQdLao?feature=shared
Thank you!

I finished tabbing this one out last week, pretty sure it’s about 90% accurate. I’ll rewrite the tab more legibly after work and post a picture of the final copy.
Super fun lick to play and a good ear training exercise with all the chromatic steps

Looking forward to this - Hal Rugg, right?
I was just learning "one's on the way" and "don't come home a-drinkin'".

As promised, Hal Rugg’s ripping opener to That She’s Leaving Feeling.
I’m only in my 7 month of playing and decided to tackle this as my first attempt at tabbing a song out by ear (I know, quite a load for my first try), took me a little while as I was figuring out the changes as it descends but I believe this is 90% correct, if you find any corrections let me know
It sounds pretty weird and dissonant played slowly but as you speed it up you’ll be sounding like Hal in no time.

I had never heard this til a month or so ago and spent an hour or 2 on it recently. finally got it down but it boggles my mind how Hal could just come up with something like this on the spot and execute it so perfectly. love the use of the 2nd string, he was a master of that. You Wanna Give Me a Lift is another example
I can pull off One's On The Way, Don't Come Home a-Drinkin, and Give Me a Lift pretty well but this Leaving Feeling intro is next level

Agreed it’s insane, I bet he sat there grinning as he pulled off that lick. What’s crazier to me is that whole album is filled with killer pedal steel and I imagine back then it would’ve been recorded in one or two sessions without much rehearsal time, so Hal was coming up with a lot of it on the fly, just my guessscott murray wrote: 9 Dec 2025 2:47 pm I had never heard this til a month or so ago and spent an hour or 2 on it recently. finally got it down but it boggles my mind how Hal could just come up with something like this on the spot and execute it so perfectly. love the use of the 2nd string, he was a master of that.
