Volume Pedal

The default pedal a lot of people use is a Goodrich L-120. It's a passive, pot pedal. I have one of these, I also have a Moyo (cool) and a Hilton (cool). But I prefer the feel and sound of the pot pedal. Others prefer the brighter sound of an active pedal, like the Hilton or Telonics.

Doug Earnest at Stage One steel guitars makes a really nice lightweight, affordable pot pedal that utilizes a gear driven action as opposed to a string that most pot pedals have.

Yes it is the one I use, very simple design, east to replace the pot if ever necessary.

I know it's the Indian not the arrow, but I've gone though too many electronic pedals to praise their reliability...Not naming any names. My tech got tired of running onstage to replace them with one of my Goodrich pedals. I have quite a few, some must be 40-something years old......and they all work always!

I’ve got a Moyo and a Goodrich (Omni, but only the passive circuitry, so it’s basically an L120 in the Omni body) I prefer the build quality and the feel of the Moyo however I guess I’m in the minority here but I would prefer it to be larger. I’ve already burned through one pot in the Goodrich and I haven’t even had it a year. Will see how long the replacement lasts…

I have 6 Goodrich pedals a Hilton and 2 Ernie Ball pedals. I use the Goodrich L120 and have for 30 years. Tommy White and several other pros use Goodrich. Hilton is also great Quality and reliable but I don't like having to provide power to the pedal. The build quality and feel of Goodrich is my preference.

Some good recommendations. FWIW, I used Goodrich passive 120 pedals for 40 yrs. Yes, the pot issue was/is annoying requiring replacement periodically.

I came across a fair deal on a Hilton a few yrs. ago. I really like everything about it, the sound and the action. I have to plug in a buffer at the guitar anyway, so another electrical connection doesn't matter to me but I can see where forgetting a power supply would.

Not disparaging any of the other electronic pedals since I have no experiences, but I can't imagine I would find a better one than the Hilton and see absolutley no reason to spend the kind of money those cost.

Plus Keith Hilton is accessible and takes care of his products forthwith and with professional and fair service.
