Identify this vintage 6-string?
“Creole girls, Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana” -Ben Shahn, 1935
The hardware and adornment harken to the mass-produced instruments of the era but I’ve never seen that particular shape — balalaika-like but very much a six string.

Looks like a cheap clunker.. Awful to look at but I'll bet it sounds bad. 
I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!

That kind of decorative stencil makes me think of Kay or Old Kraftsman guitars.....
