Re: Strings
Ive been using Live Steel Strings in stainless for 20 years and they never have failed me. I've never broken a string and am extremely lazy when it comes to changing them. They hold their tune and life for a long time. I usually play over 30 gigs a year and practice occasionally. I'm sure, though, you'll get other responses.

Re: Strings
I’ve been using Universal Stainless Live Steel Strings for around 5 years now and I haven’t had any issue with them at all. Shipping is fast and quality is wonderful.

Re: Strings
Another vote for Live Steel Strings. Been using Nickel wound for a decade or more. I even use them on my Epiphone SG tuned to open G for slide and regular guitar kind of stuff.

Re: Strings
Though common knowledge among most players, there may still be a few out there who do not realize that the "stainless vs. nickel" designation refers only to the wound strings. The unwound strings (the ones that usually break) in all of the sets are just plain steel music wire, normally with some sort of coating on them to resist rust.

Re: Strings
I've used SIT (SHOE9) strings for years mainly because they're a good value. A few years ago, I started using D'Addaio NYXL 12/38 strings and am happy with the tone and durability. I've yet to break one (and as a trial, I left the first set on for over a year). Whether it's the brand, or the .012 on the 3rd string, I can't say for sure, but if you're looking for some new strings to try, NYXL 12/38 is worth considering.

Re: Strings
What Tommy says.. after years of Cobra then Live Steel I went to NYXL after they came up on the forum. I can get singles for my Ext E9 setup. They don’t rust here in Hawaii like all the others did..

Re: Strings
GHS PF500 have been good for me, and I like that they are halfwound strings which cuts down on bar noise.
I also like Jagwire Nickel strings a lot and used them for a long time in North America, but they are a bit harder to get in Europe, whereas the GHS ones are easy to find.

Another String Joy user here. I use a couple of gauges that aren’t in most vendors standard sets, and I can custom order what I need. Great tone, long life, great customer service.

Re: Strings
I wish Frenchy's strings were still around, but they're not. When he was closing up shop, I asked him what brand I should use, and he said SIT.
I've been using SIT stainless strings on my U12 guitars for years, and have been quite pleased with them.
