Mullen RP D10 split case

Post by Michael Haselman »

The case for my beloved RP is wearing out. I want to go with a split case. Who makes them?

Might be a few weeks. From another thread
I ordered a Mullen SD10 G2 on September 30th, 2024. I spoke with a lady from Mullen yesterday, I forget her name, but she is Shaun's sister. She said she is assuming managing the office duties at the company. She also stated their CNC machine was down for three months which caused some delays. Shaun will be out for the next couple of weeks due to a medical event, so they are closing for the next couple of weeks. She said as soon as they return, she would get back to me with an updated delivery date.

Michael, this family has been building cases for many years for many steel companies. He can build you any configuration you need. I don't think you can do any better.

Oh, sorry. Too bad. I know he stopped for a while just after 2020 due to hassles and availability of materials but revved back up a couple or 3 yrs. later.

Anyway, thanks. Good to know. Won't refer folks there anymore.

A quick-and-dirty solution while you're waiting for a real-deal split-case pair.....
A keyboard gig bag, 61-key size works fine for my U-12 RP. Holds the pedal rack and leg bag. I've also heard of people using gun cases, but carrying something that looks like a firearm into a bar might make some folks a little nervous.
So there's that.

I'm bumping this since I seen to be having problems communicating with Mullen. And I really want this. They have them on their website but I want to talk to someone there before I order. I need an ETA before I spend $350 plus tax and shipping. If there's any other case builders out there...

Check with Gruene - https://www.grueneroadcases.com/psg-seats-cases
He makes great cases and seats and has been pretty responsive when I've talked to him.

And deja vu, Mr. Gruene is also not making cases anymore. This is getting frustrating!

We bought a Apache rifle wheeled case for our keyboard from Harbor Freight for $99.00 bucks around Christmas last year. Some foam mods with thinner material and it's great.
Apache case SKU 58657
Inside dimensions:
13 5/8 WIDE
53 3/8 LONG
5 1/8 DEEP
Weight 22.65 lbs.
Polypropylene with rubber seals.
It has wheels too. I know these are longer than your steel so that may bother you. I use a soft tactical gun case as a pedal bar and rod bag. They are below $50 bucks and hold a lot of stuff. They come in various lengths so check for your needs.
I have a couple of cases that came from Unitec case company in Ohio. Their website shows custom cases. I believe some of the steel builders used this company because they fit the steel perfectly. Phone 800-782-3296

To close this out, I got my split case from Mullen and it's great! Sounds like they're slowly getting back to business after their recent tragedies. They were excellent to deal with, explaining what was going on. My back thanks them!!
