Paul Franklin on Oak Ridge Boys 1970s Heaven Bound

Post by Duane Becker »

On one of my Facebook groups, there was a post regarding Pete Drake and the HOF. Duane Allen wrote a note mentioning Pete and their 1970s recording of "Heaven Bound". Pete called in Paul, and mentioned to the Oaks that they're "gonna love the steel player...he's better than me."
Paul Frankin sounds great on this, must have been around 15 years old!

My favorite Oaks song! It's on my phone's play list. Young Paul rips it! I heard it was one of his first sessions for Pete.
Best lyric in a country song: "...One more, Moon..."

From what I've read, it was recorded in 1975, and Paul was born in 1954. So he'd have been around 21 years old.

Donny, Thanks for catching that typo, I meant to type 25 instead of 15.
