My money is on Robert Randolph. The music director likely asked himself, "Who plays rocky gospel slide or steel guitar?" The only recognizable name likely to pop into his/her mind would be Randolph, I don't think anyone else in the Sacred Steel tribe has as much name recognition or "brand identity."
Which is too bad, there are a ton of really killer players in the Sacred Steel genre!
