First song on pedal steel

Post by Glen Ohmie »

Hi everyone, I’m a newbie to this. Hope this is in the right section. I’ve been learning some songs from You Tube, still have a long way to go but having fun! Got a long way to go.

Interesting - I don't think I heard of Domland before.

Sleepwalk needs to be played - keep up the good work!

Thank you, Sleep walk is a great classic, I remember it from when my dad played back in the late 50’s and through the 60’s. This Domland Stereo guitar was built in Denver and apparently not a whole lot of them were made. This one has cable operated pull system that raises or lowers the string. It also has two jacks to run as stereo but I bypassed it and run it from just the single jack. It was a bugger to get all set up and working again . I’d love to have a lever type sometime when I can swing it. There’s a thread on here somewhere that talks about Domland guitars if you’re interested.

Glen,

Nice work. That is a completely different arrangement than the one I've been working thru. Is that from tab or did you work that out on your own?

Glen, well done. Takes a great deal of effort and patience to execute a classic piece of music. Keep up the journey and enjoy the rewards as they come.

Thanks for the kind comment, I’ve been making a few improvements since posting, worked it out from a few different You Tube videos.

Thank you, it gets very frustrating sometimes but also so rewarding when you play just a little better each time. I’m sure my wife absolutely hates Sleepwalk and the Steel Guitar Rag! I’m learning from others mostly on you tube. I’ve learned a lot from Aaron on his SteelPicking channel. Lots of great info here as well. Thanks for the support!
