Volume Pedal modification - to mitigate string slippage

Hello all,

Right out of the box my new Volume pedal did not work because of string slippage on the potentiometer shaft pulley.

This ABC Volume pedal is similar to the Carter-Starter Volume pedal in every sense, and of course it does look similar to the Goodrich pedal on the outside.

I did a minor modification which has now made the pedal fully functional - without any slippage - and a shorter string is needed - with this mod.

It's an easy fix.

I similarly added a spring to my ShoBud pedal to keep string tension.

Looks like a good solution. My question is - does the pedal remain in its position when you take your foot off? Or does it slide down? I thought that the purpose of the spring was to create the proper tension to keep the pedal in place when you take your foot off.

I use old Fender pedals and the string does slip over time and usage. My solution is to add some non-slip tape to the spindle to provide extra grip for the string. I wonder why manufacturers insist on a shiny, slippery spindle? My new Moyo pedal does have some kind of textured metal for the spindle and it does not slip.
