Mark Frederick - Phoenix Area

Post by Fred Justice »

Long time friend to myself and many, Mark Frederick from right here in the Valley Of The Sun, passed away yesterday unexpectedly around 4:30 PM. I don't know many details yet.
The cause not known for sure yet, though a heart attack is suspected.
Mark had not been sick and was in good health as far as I know.
Mark played pedal steel for Mr. Bobby Lee from Scottsdale Arizona for a period of time. and had been a steel player for many years.
Mark and I have spent endless hours on the phone back through the years, I'll miss him sorely.
I'll post arrangements as I learn them.
Rest in peace ole friend.

I’m sorry to hear about your friend, Fred. That’s become a too familiar sadness.

This is really sad news. Mark was a great friend. Not many people heard him play but he was really good. His 2 favorite steel players are Paul and Tommy and Tommy and Paul!
Gonna miss him. RIP.

Mark was my friend too! He always had the time to talk to me even when he was calling Danny. Such a fine gentleman and kind. I never thought this day would come. I just always thought he would be there. What a great loss.
Praying for Charlotte, his wife and for all of his family and friends.

I am very sorry to hear this. I met Mark here in Colorado Springs at Mac's Steel Guitar Shop. We had a nice long conservation. He could chime a pedal steel better than anyone I ever had seen at the time. He was living in Monument Co at the time and soon there after moved to Arizona. I would have really like to spend a lot of time with him but it never happened. He was a very nice, friendly fellow. I had recently been thinking about trying to call him. I wish I had.

Thanks Fred Justice for posting this info. Hope you are doing well.

I have been asked to send condolences to the family of Mark by Ray Jenkins. Ray is in Texas and cannot be there. Mark was Ray's first steel guitar teacher and he is feeling the sting of Mark's death. I did not know Mr. Frederick but I do know Ray Jenkins and Fred Justice and if they say he was a special man, then he was.

Thank you all for your posting. I just made sure that Charlotte, Marks wife, has the link to this thread. Please remember her in your prayers.
