Not a steel player but a great guitarist, songwriter and an awesome singer. I use to listen to him sing "Ain't No Sunshine" when I was a kid and I was always so captivated by the smoothness in his voice. I wanted to sing just like him. He still lives through his recordings but for me personally it's pretty dynamic. He was 81.

I used to play steel with a singer/guitarist who did a lot of 60s & 70s rock. One of the ones we did often was "Ain't No Sunshine", which I loved. It allowed me to break out lots of big extended chords on the C6 neck. Bill was a great talent.
