Here is a You Tube link to his self titled album, using songs from the folk catalogue and public domain; one or two of the original songs have a Crosby Stills and Nash or early Jerry Garcia kind of vibe. All the public domain songs fall into more of a folk vein, and many of the originals resemble public domain songs in form and content. I haven't checked the credits to see who did the pedal steel work towards the end of the album, all the dobro work is Chris himself, he was a multi-instrumentalist swiss-army knife kind of player.

Not only a tremendous multi-instrumentalist, but a great guy as well. Back in the late 70's/early 80's I played with him a few times at the Ice House in Pasadena CA.
In thise days if artists in LA needed pretty much any acoustic instrumental fills or eclectic/ethnic instruments there were two guys on the first call list - Darrow and Lindley. Really creative and melodic player - I could listen to him play for hours and he'd rarely repeat himself.
