This hurts. I just saw Mike the week before he died and he seemed like his normal self and played great. They played a double-bill with Mike and the Moonpies and we talked quite a bit after his set. I’m an amateur pedal steeler. I’m a better lapsteel and Dobroist. I’m a piano player by trade. Mike is the only reason I took up steel. He set me up with his old MSA and would always help me with any questions and give me tips and corrections. He always has, since I was a teenager and he was in his early 20s working in the local music store. I feel kind kind of lost right now.

I’m shocked and devastated to hear this. I had no idea. I’ve been out of touch and don’t get on the forum as much as I used to but surely wasn’t expecting anything like this. Mike was an awesome gentleman and an amazing picker and I always considered him a great friend. Thanks Tim for posting. I’m just really shocked to hear it.

My deepest condolences to his family.

Rest In Peace Dear Friend.
