My heart is heavy with sadness for a friend and mentor. Terry was a tremendous supporter of the steel guitar and one of the founders of the Ozark Steel Guitar Association. He will be missed by all of us. RIP. Terry, and thank you for your kindness and guidance over the years.

Sorry to hear this sad news! Terry was a Great Guy and Wonderful Steel Guitarist! He helped me when we first started our Annual Steel Guitar Show. Terry was the 71st inductee into the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame in 2012. He was a favorite player on the stage of the ISGC for many, many years and he was friends with all who knew him. Our condolences to his family. RIP Terry.

I knew it was close, but you just can't prepare for this at all.
Terry and I became friends some 25 years ago.
I sure learned a lot from Terry. what a smooth player he was.
Terry was a close friend, I've camped at his house many times.
Its not good by for me, its see you later buddy.

I met Terry at the Brisbane Steel Guitar Club festival last year where he was playing with Milton Quackenbush and the house band. When I offered to help him get off the stage he was very friendly and grateful. He did a great set. I was very lucky to meet him and he seemed like a true gentleman. He will be sadly missed. RIP Terry

What a huge loss for the steel guitar community. Great guy and a super steel player and a steel guitar builder as well as a supporter. Terry Bethel gave me a compliment one day at the Oklahoma Show I will never forget. That made him more special to me because of his kindness. RIP Terry Bethel, you will definitely be missed.

He never made a big deal about his long hair but he let it grow long so he could donate hair for chemo patients wigs. He did so on a regular basis.

I have trouble with words in this circumstance so will concur with those who have expressed their sadness much better than I could. Here's a photo I have of Terry.

I've had a couple request for this picture of Terry. One being Fred Jack. I can't find the original so I had to scan it. I took it at Merrimac Theater in Steelville, Mo.

RIP Terry Bethel - I didn't know him but he was here on the forum since my day one and he was highly revered as both a great player and a great person....
