Regrettably, I must inform the Forum of the death of Jimmy Powell. He was a mentor and a good friend. He'd had health problems lately and passed this morning at his home.

Is this the same Jimmy Powell that played the Opry in Florida with Ashton Evans? I am so sorry to hear of his passing. I did not know him personally but understand he was a great guy and really good steel player.

I met Jimmy at a steel show in Magee, Ms. several years ago and although some Nashville greats were there Jimmy was right there with them with great touch and tone. A Very good player and will be missed. My condolences to family and friends.
