Loss

Post by Allen Howington »

What a loss to Sid's family, and what a loss to all of us. Let's all pray that Sid's family finds comfort in knowing that he is in a better place now and will never hurt or have sorrow anymore. What a talented man he was, I just listened to the CD I got from Sid the last time I seen him, he was truly a gifted man musically and as a friend to all of us. We all shall miss him immensely.

Very sad to hear this. Sid's tuning method, which I got from Peterson's website, will forever remind me of his expertise. Though I never met him personally, I always considered him a friend because of that tuning structure.

My prayers to his family.
Best regards,
Mike

This is Sid’s daughter, Jordan. I am sorry to report that my dad did pass early this morning. We were all around him and he was very peaceful. He had a long 4 year battle with cancer. He is no longer suffering. No more pills, needles, and appointments. Thank you to all who were such a great friend to him.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Sid's passing! I met him briefly a few years back, but was so impressed by his kindness and caliber as a person and a small businessman. He was not only a great friend to everything steel guitar related, but a talented musician as well. Mr. Sid was the kind of person you wish you had met sooner in life! May God's comfort and peace be with Mr. Sid and his family and friends. I know his presence will be greatly missed at live events and definitely on this forum. Roger

I just saw this. It breaks my heart. I had never met Sid until Johnny introduced me to him a year or so before he got sick. I knew who he was and admired and had a lot of respect for him as a musician. He played on St Louis show in 2014 with me and I was so happy. He acted happy that I would even ask him! I was happy that he agreed to. I had him on a high pedestal-same place as Doug, Buddy, and Tommy. So for him to talk to me at all was the best it ever gets. I think it was in St Louis in 2015 when that was the last St Louis show, he was sick and couldn't be there. I had been keeping in touch with him and I recorded several of the players sets and was sending them to him from the show. I remembered he said the recordings were nice; he said it made him feel like he was there. He wrote "Joan, you are such a good friend". I was so glad that he liked the recordings and that maybe it made him happy even for just a little while. He never acted like he was better than me. He was a good man. Gosh, I will miss him so much. He is doing better than we are now.
