Dr. Wayne Yakes Mom...

Post by John Macy »

For all of you know the steel guitar world's best friend, Dr. Wayne Yakes, you probably know his mom, Frances. Ubiquitous at the steel shows, she was an amazing woman who raised an equally amazing family.

Frances passed this week, and will be sorely missed. I think I speak for all of us in sending our condolences to Wayne and his family, and wish all the best to them...

Her and her family were such dear friends. We've known Frances for over 30 years,,,and Dr. Wayne always made us feel so special to be included in his birthday celebration in Dallas. We can't begin to express our deepest sympathy for this very special family! I know she will have a special place in heaven. May God's lasting peace be with the family.

Dr Wayne so sorry to hear about the loss of your Mother. She was a sweet lady. The last time I talked to her she was still working at the Air base in Abilene. She will leave a big hole in our hearts.

Frances was a sweet, wonderful woman with great amounts of love for all her friends in the steel guitar community. In the 30 years of our friendship, she was never without a glow in her face.

I will truly miss her presence at steel guitar events, or my gigs that she'd attend. RIP, sweetheart.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

What a dear lady with quite a flair and a loving spirit! She was so proud of her children and grandchildren's triumphs in education and their successes in life. God bless her family in their time of grief.

My Condolences to Dr. Yakes and the family. I met Frances Yakes along her pal, Jane Guitar a couple of times, while playing events in Abilene, TX. She was a sweet lady and and a fan of the steel guitar. When I met her I had already known Dr Yakes, via the sale of my 1954 Gibson Century. She walked up to the bandstand to see if I was acquainted with Dr. Wayne? She was proud that I knew him. The steel guitar world is really small world.

We are so sorry to hear about Ms. Frances. She was a great lady with a smile at all times. She went on every Friday day tour that I lead in St. Louis, which we did for many years and in Dallas she was a supporter of our Benevolent Fund. What a fun loving and kind lady. We will miss her.
