Mom Passes Away

Post by Delbert Phelps »

Last night my Mom passed away,at the age of 90, after a 4 year battle with alzheimers disease .Mom really loved steel guitar music ,and loved to hear me play . I will miss her dearly but I know she is in heaven now ,probably playing a piano up there, as she did in Church down here .

I'm sorry for your loss Delbert, went through the same thing, and it's hard on the patient, and care giver.

Delbert, My mom went Home a number of years ago. It is some comfort to know she went to sleep down here, and then woke right up in Heaven. ...

I'm very sorry for your loss, Delbert. I went through a very similar situation last year. During my Mom's long battle with dementia, familiar music was the one thing that seemed to get through and calm her. I'm sure your music brought your Mom great comfort and happiness as well. God bless...

I lost my mom a few years back after being in a nursing home for a couple of years and I think abiut her daily. When I was a about 14-15 my goodfriend asked me to go to church with him for the church homecominghe said there would be lots of food hine made ice cream and that a Gospel groud called the Florida Boys was going to be there. This was in Plesant Grove, Tx. The played some great great gospel songs but the one that stuck in my mind perhaps becaues my grandmother was in a old folks home at the time, ever since then I loved that song it was one called "In A Old Folks Home" and I asked Erv Niehaus if he could/would tab it for me and what a Great Job he did, I was ever so grateful to him. Mom used to like to hear me do it on guitar and when I'm kinda down I play it for her hoping she can hear me on the steel. Ther's a lot of thing's you can have 2 of but you can only have one Mother. God Bless and may she rest in peace.

Delbert, my condolences to you and your family. I can only imagine how wonderful it was to have your mother in your life for so many years! May your memories of her never be overshadowed by the Alzheimer years. God blessed you always.
