Kenny Yates from Sacramento has gone home

Post by Mike Scaggs »

Friends I just got the word that my life long friend and fellow steel player Kenny Yates from Sacramento has passed away. Kenny was one of the kindest and funniest guys I ever knew. When I was a young guitar slinger he always took time to show me, and all of us youngins, some cool licks and intros. Like most of us, Kenny was a huge Buddy Emmons fan and we had many long nights talking about all that. If you knew Kenny you know he was a great man. He is with the lord now so please join me in saying a prayer for his wife and family.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you

I knew Kenneth back before he moved to California
we went to the same school in Carson, Ms. This was before he started playing the steel, he was playing lead guitar then and i played the flattop and try to sing, i moved to Michigan and started playing steel, after many years we both moved back to Miss. and never did get to jam with him after that

You bet 'cha, Mike. I'll send a bunch of prayers up for Kenny's family and friends.
Best regards,
