Charles Barnett Stroke PASSED AWAY JULY 4
Charlies wife Darlene called me and said I could share this with the forum. Charlie suffered a MAJOR stroke on Tuesday and is not doing well at all. He is in rehab now. I will post more info as Darlene provides it to me. Keep Charlie and Darlene in your prayers. As most of you know, Darlene had recent heart surgery as well but she is doing well.

I'll pray for Charlie's full recovery; I'm doing just that from my Feb. 1 stroke (all going great, by the way, even playing well again, thank God).

I'm so sorry to hear of Charlie's passing. I first remember him when we both worked for Jones Truck Lines in Springdale in the late 50s and early 60s. I had no idea he played steel guitar, until many years later. I moved away and came back to S'dale to visit my parents occasionally. When my mother could no longer go out for entertainment, I arranged for jam sessions, so entertainment could come to her. One of the other players also knew Charlie, but he knew also that he played steel guitar. Charlie attended some of those jams and I went to a similar jam in his home in BelleVista. I regret that the distance between Arkansas and Texas prevented me from getting to know Charlie as a musician, rather than as a great co-worker and good friend of my dad, who had also worked for JTL.
