Sound problem
Win 7 64bit, no speaker sound on line in device, Audacity records fine, shows form wave, playback is good/normal, tried another record what you hear program, works the same. In "manage audio devices" panel shows line in working, also speakers working. While recording in Audacity, I played a sound file, and it came through speakers while other program was recording. Asus A88X-plus mainboard, onboard sound. Would a sound card fix it, or is there a hidden switch somewhere, maybe on the install dvd.
Thanks Bill
Thanks Bill

Do you have "Stereo Mix" (Creative calls this "What you Hear") set as the default Recording device?
What is set, in the Device Manager, for the Sound Device? If it only shows "High Definition Audio Device (driver) then you do not have the correct sound driver for the sound hardware. If this is the case, the first step is to get the correct sound driver.

Trying to find/download updated drivers for audio is like a dog chasing his tail. I think I'll just get a sound card, and be done with it..
"High Definition Audio Device" is showing in device manager, thought about trying mike in, but would lose stereo. I think I may try a splitter on the line out of the tape player, no headphone jack, that would solve the problem. Thanks for your help Jack...BF
