Tragedy has stricken....

Post by Mike Headrick »

.....the steel guitar community and the world at large. Prepare yourself for some bad news. We all knew it would happen, but it will still be a shock. This is not a very enlightening post, but I'm not at liberty to say any more than this. You will hear more soon, but it won't come from me. Just check this section of the forum frequently, and I'm sure you'll also hear from your friends and broadcast news.

I won't be answering any replies to this post, and it will sink to the bottom fast as the sad details emerge.

I hope this isn't what I think it is. Please let it be a bad dream and I wake up.

Truly a great loss to the music world. This man made the pedal steel what it is today. He has influence more steel player than anyone and his music will influence anyone who decide to play the pedal steel. Let's pray for his family.

Johnny Bush texted me with the bad news last night. Devastating. Truly the end of an era. :(

My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

Just gutted. My deepest condolences to all of you that knew him. I was never lucky enough to meet him or see him play live but thank goodness for the wonderful records and for youtube.

What terrible news to hear. So saddened to learn of this. I had the privilege to meet him and hear him play live on three occasions, and each are times that, Lord willing, I won't soon forget.

Rest in peace, Buddy. Thank you for the musical legacy you leave behind.

This hurts. Our lives were made so much richer for the talent of this great man. I hope his last years were occasion for some joy--we know the sadness he suffered. He suffers no more. Thank you, Buddy Emmons.
