May My Dad and Mom Rest In Peace

Post by Lynn Stafford »

Very sadly, my 96 year old mother, Wanda Stafford passed away two weeks ago on May 7th. My Father, Horace Stafford was also 96 when he passed away in April of 2007.

Mom has been living independently in South San Francisco, California ever since his passing, as was her choosing. I used to call her every evening, and it was only recently that she finally expressed her desire to come up to Oregon to spend her last few years with my wife, Kathy and I. We're very grateful that she was able to live out her days in the manor that she wanted.

Kathy and I put them both to rest at the National VA Cemetery in Dixon, California (near Sacramento) yesterday, on our way home to Oregon.

Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers,

Lynn

Thinking of you and your family, Lynn. I'm sure it meant the world to your Mom to be able to spend so much time with you and Kathy.

It's a wonderful thing that your mother had been living independently for so long and could choose to be
where she wanted to be, in the 'manor' that she wanted--pun intended. Sense of place is important to all of us;
she came to be at the home she wanted to be by her own choosing, an honor and a comfort for you and beyond a blessing for her.
My condolences to you, Lynn. I think it was peaceful for your Mom.

So many of us know the pain of losing a mother, Lynn. How wonderful that yours lived a long life to see her son grow in all phases of life - from a boy to a man, and in her final years, as a caregiver, as you and your wife granted your mother that loving wish.
You are in my thoughts and prayers in your time of sorrow.

Lynn, I'm sorry for your losses, but It's great to hear family stories of longevity and wishes being able to be fulfilled as elderly parents request in their golden years. Cherish the fond memories which I'm certain are many through those many years. Prayers & condolences for the Stafford family.

Hi, Lynn, my very best to you. I'm sorry to hear of your Mom's passing, and glad you got to spend more time with her in gentle care lately. I have had my rapid-again Mom living with me for some time, and while "sharp as a tack" as they say, she requires near constant care. So I can imagine the concentration and affection you've given your Mom. As I said, very best to you.
