Gary, can you post the s/n and the model. Perhaps you can make it out better than the picture.

S/N looks like 11220? 11229?
Model# 614? or what does the decal say on the front?

If you want to add it to the list you are making, I have Shobud Pro 1 Ser#5375 built 04-18-74 by D.M. Shipped to Gretsch 04-19-74 in Cinc. Ohio. Blonde Pro 1 with 3&2 from the factory I think.

S-10, 3&2, serial# 4300, No sticker underneath. Kind of a blue green color. 73?

For all of you looking at this thread,

There are a couple of us that maintain this database. Currently there are only 280 Sho~Bud's that we have cataloged.
Serial Numbers start at 1000 and go to 18695! those numbers don't include the Fingertips, Crossovers, and anything else they built.

To say the least, we're missing a few. So, if you have one or know someone that does, could you post the following information on each guitar:

Serial Number
Model Number
Model Name
Style (S10, SL10 i.e. 6139, SD10 (i.e. LDG), D10) (the original configuration)
Color
Pedals
Knees
Builder (if tag is still present)
Name of Current owner
Build date (if you have original paper work or know for sure)
Comments (Anything that you know about the guitar, i.e. C6th neck removed, Repainted, knees/pedals added/removed, who you bought it from)

We work on this as we get a chance and my time is getting scarce but I do what I can.

Also, we don't have anything on any of the 4400 Fender Artist Series guitars that they built. But they're out there somewhere!

wow! over 20.000 sho~buds floating around from the professional to the super pro era!

putting it in that perspective, you've got quite a few steels just counting sho~bud, emmons and msa.

Same specs as a 6148, but racks, not two hole pullers.

John, most likely a 6139. It would not have had any name decal. Those didn't start until the Pro I when they changed that body to have the 2 hole pulls.

Chris, yeah, kinda mind boggling ain't it. I don't know what MSA's numbers were but I'd estimate about half of Sho~Buds. And then what, about say 5000 Emmons rough WAG?

So that alone is roughly 35,000 steels! Now I estimate there's about 15,000 members who have joined the forum over the years and figure roughly 1.3 guitars per (some guys got GAS bad!) that comes up to about 19500 guitars owned by members.

Where are the rest? Don't forget all the smaller builders that have come, gone, and are still around.
Have the aliens been sending them back to their home planet or what?

Do you know if the steel was shipped to Gretsch on 12/31/73, would it have been shipped from the shop 416B Broadway in Nashville? And would it have been shipped to Gretsch in Brooklyn, NY? Any way to know?

I only have the production cards, and some has more information than others. The information I have posted is all I have. Wish I could have more but sometimes in a factory, a worker "might" be in a hurry and at the time some info. just don't seem important.

I have a D10 with 8/6 Super Pro; black, wooden necks, serial #16868 built (according to Gene Haugh's list) in August 1981. I traded for this steel from Gary Ball in Idaho a few years ago. A great sounding, but heavy by today's standards, guitar. There is no builder's tag on the instrument, and has been modified under the guitar.

All this info is great and helps keep a little history going. I don't know much about one but I have a red, S10 Pro 1. The mod. no. is 614? (last no. has been scratched off. Serial no. is 11220 and inspected by D. Marrs. Any sales history. Thanks so much.
