That's good to know Anne. I'm sure there are many of us looking forward to hearing more of Jean Guy.

Although I have never met Jean-Guy Grenier, I certainly know his work.

I used to see him play on Radio-Canada's Country Centre-ville.

When I lived in Montréal in the early 90's, Jean-Guy and I ended up on a Steve Faulkner CD.

I love his playing. He is one of the best instrumentalists in the country.

Bienvenue au Forum Jean-Guy!

Tu as ta place parmi les grands!

Salut! Bob

I need help. Jean is a great steel player. I watched a lot of his video's on youtube. There is a song his singer does on one of his medley clips. It in French, so I have no clue what the song is. Could someone e-mail me the title to that song? the URL is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgqSjh. It is at 4:00 of the 6:54of the clip. I would love to learn that song. Thank you, Ronnie

Jean Guy Grenier Pedal steel solo 4 - Medely clip
Man, this guy can do it all, steel, guitar, banjo, and he can sing. On another clip, he does the song, "I'm In Love With A Waitress And I Don't Even Know Your Name", (whatever the title is there somewhere) and he does the steel instrumental like it's nothing. IMO, a very gifted musician and vocalist. C'mon Jean-Guy put some more of this on the Steel Guitar Forum, please.

Hi Ronnie. The song you're after is titled ' Il Faut Pardoner' which translates more or less to ' They Must Forgive'. The singer is Rheal Leblanc from New Brunswick and it's a song he wrote. I doubt that an english version exists.
Here's a link to that performance in it's entirety.

Just a note...Rheal Leblanc and Jean Guy Grenier are not in a band together. What you're watching there is a weekly country music variety show out of Moncton, New Brunswick called 'Pour L'Amour de Country' ( For the Love of Country) where different singers, mostly from New Brunswick and Quebec are showcased. Jean Guy Grenier is working in the house band which is only one of the many hats he wears.

Really fine musician as they all are on these clip medleys. Makes that Bud sing. Inspirational and soulful for sure. The cameraman/director made sure to get nice tight shots, sound is beaucoup fine.

Jean-Guy is a friend on Facebook with me, and we communicate quite often. If he is a member here he might be a little shy to post messages because of the language. I have only spoken to him in French, but most probably he speaks English, or at least understands it.

Jean-Guy is also a very busy musician as he plays with a singer named Patrick Normand, a legendary pop, folk and country singer here in Québec. Both individuals are extremely talented. There are quite a few videos on Youtube of Jean-Guy, and everyone is right...this guy is a killer player.

I have asked Jean-Guy many times to give me lessons, but alas he is always too busy.

In my humble view, this guy is one of the top ten players in the world, and believe me, there is NO PEDAL STEEL GUITAR in Montreal, so he has learned everything by himself, with no direct influence from any players. Now that's amazing, and best of all he a young guy!

I'm hoping he sees this post and contacts me to translate for him...

Jean-Guy mostly plays old Sho-Buds, Pro !! Pro !!! and LDG' and I think he also plays a Fessenden, as Vermont is very close to Montreal.

Thanks

RC
