C.C. Johnson, a friend and mentor passed away today at his home in Killeen, Texas. He was one of the top
Hawaiian steelers, but was also proficient in POP and Country music. GOD rest his soul.

Mr. Johnson was a wonderful man. We met for lunch in Georgetown one day, and he told me great stories of being befriended by Joaquin Murphey when he was out in LA as a young steel player. RIP C.C. Johnson!

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

I am so shocked to learn of the passing of my dear friend CCJ. I had the pleasure of jamming with him many times, especially at conventions and our fun times in Hawai'i. He not only loved Hawaiian music but was one
of the greatest fans of Western Swing and country music, plus jazz steel. He had a remarkable collection of everything "steel guitar" and he shared his knowledge willingly with all his friends scattered world-wide in England, Japan, and with myself here in Canada. A wonderful guy has now joined his (late) wife, Millie.
R.I.P. pal....I'll miss your e-mails and phone calls.
