Rick Quincey - R. I. P.

Post by Nick Reed »

Branson Steel Guitarist "Rick Quincey" passed away recently following a harsh bout with Cancer. I heard that he had been very sick, but have no other details to share with you. Rick played in Penny Gilley's Band over in Branson for several years and was seen regularly on her weekly show on RFD-TV. Rick was a very talented Steel Guitarist as well as lead guitar player.

I didn't know Rick, but I did see him a few times on T.V. with Penny Gilly. Great player, R.I.P Rick.

I was shocked to read this. Rick and I went back many years. Before he left S.D. he and my son had an #$%^&Y kicking band. Rick and my son always had something going and think many people went to where they were playing to see what they would do next.

One night my son put a flat rock under one of Ricks pedals and Rick got the underneath out of adjustment before he figured out what my son had done. Rick brought his steel over to my house for me to re adjust every thing under his steel and I loaned him mine.
Needless to say Rick got even but that's another story. I will miss Rick as we kept in touch by e mail. I will certainly miss Rick and those fun days.

BTW. Rick also played fiddle.

This is really saddening. Rick lived just up the street from me, when I lived in MO. He used to come up to my housed and hang out from time to time. RIP, Rick.
