How to copy files between folders on Windows 8?

Post by Brint Hannay »

In XP I was used to right-clicking on a file name, then clicking on "Copy" and I would get a dialog box where I could select where to copy it to. In Windows 8 when I do the same--right-click on the file name, then click on "Copy"--the command box simply disappears. Where does the file copy go (if anywhere)? I've tried opening the folder I wanted to move the file to and hitting Control+V, but that doesn't seem to work.

You have to Paste it where you want it. Right click on the file, then click on Copy, then go to the new folder and right click on the new folder and click Paste.
