Branson's Joey Riley

Post by Dean Holman »

My friend Joey Riley who was steel player/comedian for Mickey Gilley for over twenty years, passed away early this morning at his home. He also had his own variety show and was a great entertainer. He was an accomplished steel and fiddle player and a very gifted comedian who came to Branson back in the late eighties with a young group of very talented kids from Texas called the Texas Gold Minors. Joey was a great hard working guy and a friend to many people. He will be well missed.

RIP Joey

He has made millions laugh and forget the real world for at least a few minutes each time he was on stage.

No truer statement! An outstanding entertainer and musician as well. He really showed a great deal of appreciation to his fans and was a very approachable person. I had the opportunity to meet Joey in Branson and even got to participate in a skit with Joey onstage at one of Mickey's shows in Branson. What a memorable time that was to say the least!!!

Had another chance to see his fantastic show here locally and he was as down to Earth as any country boy could be. Way too young to leave this life! My heart goes out to his family.
