is there a free converter to go from android smart phone video file to something that will play on windows media player,
baby english please ,
not so good with computer stuff.

AVS is Windows platform software so You will need to get the video files off your android device and on to a PC though to do it with these.
There's a couple more "free" ones at

Not knowing what your smartphone is I can't tell you the format for sure but it is almost certainly MP4 which any Mac will play and most PC's that are up to date (have a media player that is reasonably new). That format will convert to WMV with the media recoders mentioned.
Depending on the age of your media player (attached to TV) it may or may not handle this (MP4) format. There are new compression addons (is it .284 ?) to some formats that puts older units obsolete too.
Maybe the easiest way is to download the Android app called (amazingly) Video Converter Android (from Google Apps) to your phone and do it there.
