Battery Charging Question
Relative to the older truism that if you don't fully discharge a battery before recharging, it will develop a memory for the partial discharge and not retain its full capacity, where are we at with the newest technology of laptops and smart phones? Can you just throw these on a charger any time you have the opportunity and not worry about the old discharge memory issue?
I've got a Chromebook with lithium ion batteries.

Google "lithium ion battery charging" with or without the quotes. The results will amaze you.Jon Light wrote:Can you just throw these on a charger any time you have the opportunity and not worry about the old discharge memory issue? I've got a Chromebook with lithium ion batteries.

Let it run down occasionally, then recharge it.

Lithium ION batteries do not have the "memory" problem that older NiCad batteries have. In most cases they do not need to be completely discharged before charging like the older NiCad's.
I see nothing in the instructions or warnings on my newer Li Ion battery devices, that includes and iPhone5, about fully discharging before charging.
